Zusammenfassung Das Kamelpockenvirus wurde aufgrund morphologischer, chemisch‐physikalischer und biologischer Eigenschaften als eigene Pockenvirusart cha‐rakterisiert. Es besitzt eine enge serologisch‐immunologische Verwandtschaft zu den Viren der Vaccinia‐Variola‐Gruppe. Die Einordnung als eigene Species in die Gruppe Orthopoxvirus der Familie Poxviridae wird empfohlen. Summary Classification of Camel pox virus Camel pox virus was characterized by its morphological, physico‐chemical and biological properties as a true species of pox virus. It bears a close serological and morphological relationship to the viruses of the vaccinia‐variola virus group. Its classification as a separate species within the Orthopoxvirus group of the family Poxviridae is proposed.
